I found this loaf very very boring. It did get slightly better the next day, but it's not a recipe I would repeat.
Preheat oven to 180°C : Line a 23 x 13 cm loaf tin with baking paper and grease well.
Mix egg and apple sauce, add Chelsea Dark Cane Sugar and melted butter, add the dry ingredients, raisins, and nuts. Mix well and pour into prepared tin. Bake approx 1 hour until a skewer comes out clean and the sides of the loaf are slightly shrunken from the side of the tin.
Cool in the tin for 10 mins then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely. Slice thinly and the loaf can be buttered if desired.
