Warm, tender stewed apples served with a rich vanilla custard – this dessert is a simple, comforting classic that’s easy to make and lovely to eat.
Vanilla Custard
Put the apple wedges, water and Chelsea Raw Sugar in a medium saucepan. Cover and bring water to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook, covered, for 8-10 mins or until the apples are just tender. Remove pan from heat and set aside, covered, for 5 mins.
Vanilla custard: Meanwhile, put the custard powder and Chelsea Raw Sugar in a small saucepan. Stir well. Whisk in a little milk to form a smooth paste. Whisk in the remaining milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring often, for 7-8 mins or until the custard thickens and comes to a simmer. Remove pan from heat and stir in the vanilla.
