Preheat oven to 180°C. Combine flour, baking soda and salt and set aside. Beat butter and both sugars at medium speed until creamy. Add vanilla and eggs, mixing on low speed until incorporated.
Mix dry mixture into creamed sugar and egg mixture on low speed to combine. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts, (optional).
